The inserts in the 1996 mint set celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Roosevelt dime with pictures of the coin
minting process and historical comments about President Roosevelt and the dime.
The front of the regular informational insert illustrates the dimes being minted in the coining press. An inset
picture in the upper left shows a hand full of freshly minted dimes.
Inside the 1996 mint set informational insert, the heraldic eagle is the focus on the top
portion. The eagle resides in a circle with all of the design in blue ink on a white background.
The bottom section identifies "The 1996 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set." Below the title, blue
text describes the uncirculated coins from Denver and Philadelphia. The message includes comments
about the coins' designs and their classic beauty along with the US Mint's processes for producing and
protecting the uncirculated coins.
Except for the "1996," this text is exactly the same as that included in the previous year's mint
set.
Like the previous year, the back of the 1996
mint set insert includes a chart identifying the coin specifications for each of the
five uncirculated coins in the mint set. The coin specifications include the metal composition, the
weight and the size in addition to the designs and the artists for the obverse and reverse of each
coin.
Special for the 1996 mint set year, a second insert identifies the 50th anniversary of the
Roosevelt dime. The coin images and the picture of President Roosevelt on the front contrast with the
American flag in the background.
The upper portion of the special 1996 Mint Set insert for the Roosevelt dime provides a brief history of
President Roosevelt's life. The historical comments include personal history in addition to the
challenges of his presidency.
The bottom of the insert contains historical information about the artist who designed the
Roosevelt dime which also mentions some of his other works for the US Mint.
The back of the 1996 mint set's Roosevelt dime insert includes the Certificate of Authenticity and the coin
specifications for the separately contained West Point dime.
